How to Feel Good and Be in Control of Your Life

Many people live life by just getting by and living from crisis to crisis. Yet life was meant to be much more than that for each one of us.

We each have talents and gifts that make us unique. What are these gifts and how can they be expressed in ways that benefit others and ourselves as well?

Expressing our own talents and dreams will bring joy, meaning, and fullness of life.

How do we take this journey? I see three important steps.

1.    Caring for the Body

The body is a magnificent machine. To function well, it requires certain things on a daily basis.

Nutrition

Certain nutrients are imperative: carbohydrates for energy, protein to build and rebuild, vitamins and minerals that are critical for the proper function of the organs of our body.

Good nutrition is not dieting or starvation. It is supplying our body with the nutrients it needs to stay well. A pleasing appearance and a well functioning body are benefits that come from good nutrition.

 Exercise

Only one out of three Americans exercise on a regular basis. Negative attitudes toward exercise are common because of our past experiences and erroneous beliefs about exercise.

Appropriate exercise is energizing, fun and uplifting. A twenty-minute walk outdoors everyday can work wonders. Do what feels good to you. It’s different strokes for different folks-some exercise best alone, and some do best with others. Above all else, it needs to be fun and done at a time that works for you.

The benefits of exercise for a healthy body and clear thinking are incredible.

2.    Pleasing the Mind

Our minds are such a beautiful part of who we are. It is so important that we feed and nurture this part of ourselves as well.

Positive thoughts release powerful chemicals (endorphins) in our bodies that help us function and feel well. Positive self talk, blessing ourselves and others laughter and play- all have a salutary effect on the way we think and feel.

3.    Nurturing the Spirit

This is our core inner self. Who am I when job and material things are stripped away? Who am I when I’m away from family and friends? Yes, there is something left. It is our inner, most powerful part, the essence of our being – it is who we really are.

We can get in touch with this part of ourselves by becoming quiet. Quiet time allows us to discover what we should really be doing with our lives. It also gives us the opportunity to invite God in for guidance and direction. Getting in touch with our inner being through quiet time is a powerful agent for healing.

Knowledge gained and decisions made in this state of mind can be awesome and really powerful.

Setting aside fifteen minutes twice a day for relaxation, prayer, and meditation will add joy, peace of mind and purpose to your life.

If we embark on the above steps, we will achieve a state of wellness. We will discover who we are and what we should be doing with our lives.

It is in the joy of serving others that we discover our own joy. My thoughts and love support you in your journey.
